Help the US Congress Understand Accessibility in Early Childhood

We are leaders of inclusiveness and community, of love, equity, and justice.
Judith Heumann, 1947-2023, Disability Rights Activist

Thanks to the National Association for the Education of Young Children for sharing this important opportunity to “help inform [the U.S.] Congress about how they can support educators working with children with disabilities! The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is looking for child care providers who have experience working with young children (0-5) with disabilities to participate in virtual discussion groups for a new report about child care accessibility…They need your voice to inform their work. Translation is available!”

During the 90-minute Zoom conversations, participants “will explore child care providers' experiences working with children and parents with disabilities. The information shared during these groups will help inform Congress about any challenges you have faced engaging with families with disabilities as well as any additional resources that would help you to create an inclusive environment.”

Participants should “1. Be a child care provider that serves children aged 5 or younger and 2. Have recent experience caring for at least one young child with a diagnosed or suspected physical or intellectual/developmental disability.”

If you meet these criteria and are interested in the opportunity to add your voice to these virtual conversations, complete the survey by December 11.
