Our Exchange team had no idea, when we were working on Holly Elissa Bruno’s new book, Happiness is Running Through the Streets to Find You: Translating Trauma’s Harsh Legacy into Healing, just how fitting it would be for the time we would find ourselves in when it launched.
Here’s what Stacia Tolman, author of The Spaces Between Us had to say about the book:
“Holly Elissa Bruno tells a story of recovery from trauma, that is both particular and universal...Her narrative is not linear, but clear and easily followed. The connecting thread is always healing, as she follows her inner compass that no matter the despair, never seems to quite break. And the courage required to follow that path toward spiritual wholeness should inspire others to do the same in their own lives. Bruno’s message is that nothing is irreparable, no damage so great that healing cannot undo. Bruno has lived the adage that as long as there is life, there is hope. And in a world that has been so very traumatized...that is a message that applies to us all.”
Holly Elissa writes: "Courage is required. A trauma survivor’s courage is fierce."
After each chapter in the book there are individual reflection questions and book group discussion questions that help readers find the courage to deal honestly and supportively with their own emotions.
Since we know this book will help both individuals coping with isolation and administrators looking for staff discussion materials, we would like to make it available widely.
In the survey we sent recently to all of you, we asked what you thought about offering some of our resources at two different prices. Most of you thought it was a good idea, and some of you thoughtfully cautioned us to be sure we didn’t give too much away so we can still support our own staff (and thank you for that kindness).
We’d like to try an experiment with this book and offer two coupon codes. One will be for 10% off the cover price and one for 30% off. We know everyone’s situation is different right now, so we hope you will use the one that is right for you, depending on what you are facing.
