Anyone who has been involved with the field of school-age care for the past two decades recognizes three organizations that have been instrumental in the development of the profession:• School-Age Notes
• National Institute on Out-of-School Time, and
• National AfterSchool Association.
In recent years many new players have been effective in promoting the field. In this report we will look at some of the organizations currently playing key roles at the national level (described in their own words and listed in alphabetical order).

The Afterschool Alliance is a non profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children. It is supported by a group of public, private, and non profit organizations that share the Alliance’s vision of ensuring that all children have access to afterschool programs by 2010. The Alliance was formed on the belief that afterschool programs are critical to children and families today, and that the need for programs is not adequately addressed.
