Over 80,000 early childhood teachers, directors, and family child care providers have been given the opportunity to access educational experiences thanks to the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Scholarship Project since July 1998. T.E.A.C.H., which stands for Teacher Education And Compensation Helps, began in 1990 in North Carolina. What began as a small pilot project offering scholarships to 21 caregivers has grown into a national movement. Now in 23 states, T.E.A.C.H. addresses the enduring challenges that plague the early childhood field �" high turnover, low compensation, and insufficient teacher education �" by providing the opportunity for a diverse population of adult learners already working in the field to gain more education.How T.E.A.C.H. works
The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Project is an umbrella for a variety of different scholarship programs. T.E.A.C.H. provides scholarships so that teachers, directors, and family child care providers working in regulated early childhood programs can complete course work in early childhood education and increase their compensation.
