RECIPE1 banana (not too ripe)

1 apple
• For the apple: ¼ cup chopped nuts, cinnamon, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 tablespoon butter.
• For the banana: 6-8 pieces of chocolate chips, 6 mini-marshmallows. (Although the banana is a healthy alternative to sugared snacks, the marshmallows and chocolate chips should be limited and viewed as a special treat if your goal is to limit sugared items in a child’s diet.)
• For the pear: 10-12 fresh blueberries, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar.

With summer upon us the opportunities for using the outdoors for cooking multiply. Whether you are at the beach, camping in the mountains, or at your favorite park, cooking over an open fire, on a BBQ, or with hot coals is a great way to offer a different children’s cooking experience.
